Michelle Archer: between ancient frames and star wars Do you know how the old tree smells when you carefully clean it from layers of dust and varnish? This smell of time is tart, warm, with history. I know him well, because I am a restorer by profession. My fingers remember the texture of each object that passed through my hands: cracked frames, shabby chests of drawers, forgotten paintings. I like to imagine how many lives they saw before they came to me. But in the breaks between work I am completely different. For example, on Saturday morning, you could catch me in the kitchen - in a stretched sweater and with flour on the cheek - while I am experimenting with the recipe for Irish soda bread (I dream to bake it once in a real Dublin cafe). Or in the gym, where I lay out as if the salvation of the universe depends on this (well, for my conscience, it definitely depends). And I love to dance-not for someone, but simply because sometimes music asks to break out through the movement.

I am here because I believe: dreams should have the right to implement. I want to open my workshop, where the old man will meet modernity, and once to leave for Ireland-to roam the dublin’s streets, inhale the salty wind of Cliffs of Moher and, perhaps, find inspiration for something completely new.
